Sri Lanka, Feb. 21 -- The Supreme Court has issued its determination regarding the constitutionality of certain sections of the proposed Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) currently under consideration by Parliament. Accordingly some sections of the proposed Anti-Terrorism Act are inconsistent with the Constitution and should be approved with a special majority and through a referendum.

Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapakse yesterday announced to Parliament that the Speaker has received the Determination of the Supreme Court in respect of the Bill titled "Anti-Terrorism" which was challenged in the Supreme Court in terms of Article 121(1) of the Constitution.
