Sri lanka, Oct. 2 -- The Ministry of Highways has issued a special gazette notification making it compulsory for drivers and all passengers of vehicles traveling on expressways to wear seat belts.

According to the notification, issued by the Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, the driver of a motor vehicle and every passenger or individual occupying a seat must wear an individual safety seat belt while the vehicle is in motion on the expressway.

The gazette further states that no vehicle will be permitted to enter or travel on an expressway unless it is fitted with safety seat belts for the driver and all passengers.
