Sri Lanka, Sept. 2 -- The Supreme Court yesterday granted leave to proceed with a Fundamental Rights petition filed against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and several others, in connection with alleged losses incurred by the former Government through the sale of Eppawala phosphate, by Lanka Phosphate Limited, to three companies, at a price substantially lower than the world market rate. The Supreme Court issued this order pursuant to a Fundamental Rights petition filed by the Centre for Environmental Justice.
