Srilanka, April 1 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa called for amendments to what he described as "burdensome agreements" with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), urging that they be revised in a manner that minimises public hardship.
He stated that the IMF agreements, which have been enforced in a way that places a burden on the entire population, have caused significant suffering and unrest among the people.
Premadasa made these remarks at a ceremony where the Malwatta Chapter conferred an honorary title on Ven. Hurigaswewe Chandraratana Thera, Chief Incumbent of Sri Dharmodaya Vihara in Delgasgoda, Alawathugoda.
