Sri Lanka, Aug. 11 -- Sri Lankan javelin thrower Rumesh Tharanga set up his personal best with a 86.50m throw and won the gold medal in the 1st Indin Open World Athletic Continental Tour Bronze event held at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, India yesterday. With this throw Rumesh achieved the World Championship qualifying mark of 85.50m and got direct qualification to Tokyo World Championship in next September. Rumesh also created a new National Record by erasing the previous National Record of 85.78m set up by Sumedha Ranasinghe earlier this year.
