Sri Lanka, March 3 -- An Auditor General's report states that during the 2022-2023 period, 28,165 domestic workers had been sent abroad for the first time without undergoing residential training, resulting in a loss of over Rs.630 million in training revenue for the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment.
The exact amount lost to SLBFE was Rs.631,177,650. This was revealed at the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) meeting recently.
It was also observed that the SLBFE, which was originally established as a regulatory body, has been operating as a business entity. The committee made this observation while reviewing the operations of the SLBFE in recent years.
