Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- The currency note with a face-value of Rs. 2,000 issued by the Currency Department of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) to commemorate CBSL's 75th anniversary will be gradually released into circulation through licensed commercial banks.

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has issued a commemorative Rs. 2,000 circulation banknote on August 29 to commemorate its 75th anniversary. In order to easily adapt the new currency note to the circulation, the licensed commercial banks are in the process of calibrating their cash handling machines. With the progress of the calibration process, the new banknote will be gradually issued into circulation through the licensed commercial banks.
