Sri Lanka, Jan. 28 -- The Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development has officially released Rs. 16,902.95 million to the bank accounts of welfare beneficiaries today (28).

This massive disbursement covers the January allowance for both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Aswesuma social safety net program, alongside the monthly allowance for senior citizens.

According to the Ministry, Rs. 13,469.85 million was distributed among 1,664,038 families as their monthly Aswesuma support.

Additionally, Rs. 3,433.11 million was credited to 686,623 elderly beneficiaries.

This streamlined, direct-to-bank transfer ensures that nearly 2.3 million vulnerable households and citizens receive their essential financial support without delays.
