Srilanka, June 19 -- Six passengers, including a foreign woman, have been arrested by Airport Customs at Katunayake International Airport while attempting to smuggle foreign-made cigarettes worth Rs. 12.6 million through the Green Channel, which is designated for travelers with no items to declare.

The suspects-four men and two women-had arrived on separate flights from Dubai, Sharjah, and Bangkok. The arrests were made by a team comprising Customs Officers and Narcotics Control Officers.

A total of 420 cartons, amounting to 84,000 sticks of "Manchester" brand cigarettes, were discovered concealed in their luggage.

All suspects have been detained, and further investigations are underway by the Airport Customs.
