Sri Lanka, Jan. 26 -- The experienced Joe Root made a superb knock of 75 as England made a successful run chase to beat Sri Lanka by five wickets with 22 balls to spare in the second one-day international to square the three-match series on Saturday.

Sri Lanka opted to bat first but they couldn't get good momentum and were resticted to 219 all out with 3 balls to spare as the England's spinners turned the screws on a surface which offered appreciable turn. England skipper Harry Brooke used six spinners and they bowled 40.3 overs and two pacemen Jamie Overton and Sam Curran bowled only 9 overs between them and spinners controlled the game to restrict Sri Lanka to 219.
