Sri Lanka, Nov. 22 -- A rockfall in the Lower Kadugannawa area has buried a house and a shop, police said, with several people reportedly trapped under the debris. Several victims have been hospitalized, and the army, along with a backhoe, has been deployed for rescue operations.
Heavy rains also caused mounds of earth to fall onto the Colombo-Kandy main road in the area. As a safety precaution, authorities have temporarily closed the road from the Ganethenna area while monitoring and mitigation measures are carried out.
