Srilanka, March 27 -- The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) reports that remittances from Sri Lankan migrant workers have increased by 16.3%, marking a significant rise in foreign inflows to the country.
According to the bureau, there has also been an increase in the volume of foreign remittances channelled through banks. As of the end of February 2025, remittances from Sri Lankan workers abroad had recorded a 16.3% growth.
For February alone, the total value of remittances received stood at US$ 548.1 million. In comparison, total remittances for the first two months of 2024 amounted to USD 963.7 million, while the corresponding period in 2025 has seen a sharp increase to US$ 1,121 million, according to the weekly economic...
