Srilanka, Feb. 14 -- Member of Parliament Ravi Karunanayake yesterday alleged that some people are working to prevent the union of United National Party and Samagi Jana Balawegaya.
Addressing the media in Colombo he said: "a few are working to destroy the unity of the two parties. These discussions are done with respect and mutual understanding. This is not forced. I am the most senior person in the party after Ranil Wickremesinghe. Aren't we UNP people?"
Karunanayake said he was surprised by some recent comments made by former MP Thalatha Athukorala.
He emphasised that the two parties should commit to create a situation where both parties can work together.
