Sri Lanka, Jan. 30 -- Two trade union activists, Ravi Kumudesh and Saman Ratnapriya, have voiced their support for the trade union action initiated by the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA).

Speaking to the media after discussions with the GMOA, Ravi Kumudesh, a medical laboratory technologist and trade unionist, said the action was necessary due to multiple crises affecting both the health service and its staff. "Many crises have emerged that affect the development of the health service. The government and Ministry of Health are not addressing the issues affecting health staff. Therefore, all trade unions have come together to support this action for the welfare of patients and healthcare personnel," he stated.
