Sri Lanka, Nov. 22 -- Deputy Minister of Environment Anton Jayakody has announced the rediscovery of a frog species believed to have been extinct for nearly 160 years.
The species, now identified at the sacred Siripa (Sri Pada) site, has been officially named Stella's Star Frog.
Authorities describe the finding as a significant boost to Sri Lanka's biodiversity records and an important milestone for environmental conservation efforts.
Further studies will be conducted to assess the habitat, population, and conservation needs of the rediscovered species.
