Sri Lanka, July 15 -- In a rare and fascinating natural occurrence, a coconut tree in Sri Lanka has sprouted ten separate plants from a single coconut fruit. This unusual phenomenon was discovered on a farm in the Meewella area of the Thirappane Divisional Secretariat in Anuradhapura.
The tree belongs to 52-year-old farmer P. Wijeratne, who cultivates a variety of crops including coconuts, bananas, and eggplants. According to Wijeratne, the coconut plant was initially damaged by wild elephants shortly after planting. After replanting it in the same location, multiple new shoots began emerging from the base over time.
