Sri Lanka, May 12 -- Twenty-two individuals have died and over 30 others left injured in a tragic bus accident that occurred in the early hours of yesterday (11) at Gerandi Ella, in the Ramboda area, Police said. The deceased include 16 men and 6 women.

The accident involved an SLTB bus travelling from Kataragama to Kurunegala via Nuwara Eliya, which veered off the road and plunged into a precipice at Gerandi Ella along the Nuwara Eliya-Gampola main road.

According to Police, there were between 60 and 70 passengers on board at the time of the incident.
