Sri Lanka, Sept. 3 -- Former Minister Rajitha Senaratne, currently in remand custody, appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) today (03) and recorded a statement for nearly five hours.

Senaratne was presented before the Commission this morning following a court order from Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama, who instructed prison authorities to ensure his attendance at 9:00 a.m.

He was taken into custody on August 29 after a warrant was issued against him and has been remanded until September 9. The remand followed submissions from both the Commission and Senaratne's defense lawyers.
