Sri Lanka, Dec. 19 -- The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has reported that the Udadumbara area in the Kandy district has received over 200 mm of rainfall, raising serious concerns over landslide risks in the region.
The NBRO warned that locations within Udadumbara showing early signs of instability are at risk of landslides.
Two houses in Udadumbara were damaged by a landslide yesterday afternoon (18), resulting in injuries to three people, including a woman.
According to reports, the injured individuals had earlier been relocated to a safe centre in the area due to adverse weather conditions. However, they were injured after returning to inspect the condition of their homes and were caught in the landslide.
