Sri Lanka, Sept. 4 -- The 21st Battle of the Golden Ensign football encounter between two of the South's most prestigious schools, Rahula College, Matara, and St. Thomas College, Matara, will kick off in grand style on September 6 at the Uyanwatta Stadium, Matara.

With a proud legacy in both academics and sports at national and international levels, the 181-year-old St. Thomas College, Matara (established in 1844) and the 102-year-old Rahula College, Matara (established in 1923) have competed against each other in football since 2002, with a total of 20 encounters held to date. Out of these, St. Thomas College has won 10 matches, Rahula College has secured 9 victories, and one match ended in a draw.
