Srilanka, May 15 -- Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Bimal Ratnayake yesterday said that a number of measures will be implemented soon to prevent future road and train accidents. These measures include the introduction of AI-powered driver observation system, a new compensation scheme for vehicle accidents, and the construction of rail crossings and traffic lights at 440 unprotected railway lines.
Speaking at a special media briefing held at the Transport and Highways Ministry over the tragic bus accident in Ramboda which claimed 22 lives, Minister Ratnayake said that the Government will implement a crash programme for the improvement of public transport safety in Sri Lanka.
