Srilanka, May 13 -- Commissioner General of Motor Traffic Kamal Amarasinghe stated that more attention will be paid in the future to the rest time provided to drivers and conductors working on long-distance passenger service buses.
He said that special attention has to be paid to this matter in the wake of the Gerandi Ella SLTB bus accident on Sunday which claimed 22 lives.
He was responding to questions about what further steps the Motor Traffic Department would take to mitigate such fatal bus accidents.
The Commissioner General also stated that close attention must be paid to long-distance passenger transport services operating at night on such difficult roads.
