Sri Lanka, Jan. 17 -- Police has initiated a comprehensive investigation into alleged inference with matters related to the trial of several controversial cases before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court by former Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake based on the complaint made by former Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya.

Judge Gihan Pilapitiya who is currently serving as the Embilipitiya High Court judge made this complaint to Acting IGP C.D.Wickremaratne following the controversial telephone recordings of MP Ranjan Ramanayake that were found to be in the public domain.

The judge had made a complaint to the Police headquarters against Ramanayake when he was serving as the Colombo Chief Magistrate.
