Srilanka, June 12 -- Superintendent of Prisons, Gamini B. Dissanayake, who served as the Media Spokesperson for the Department of Prisons, has officially tendered his resignation.
According to department sources, his resignation letter has been forwarded to the Acting Commissioner General of Prisons.
The resignation comes in the wake of an ongoing investigation into the controversial release of an inmate from Anuradhapura Prison, allegedly under a misused Presidential pardon. While the inquiry continues, Dissanayake has stepped down from his media duties, though it remains unclear if his decision is directly linked to the incident.
