Sri Lanka, Aug. 16 -- Farmer Organisations coming under the 14 major tanks in Anuradhapura district have urged the District Irrigation, and Surveying Authorities and the District Agriculture Committee to accelerate the surveying activities and demarcate the boundary lines of the reservoirs to prevent the overnight reservation encroachments and to free the reservation landscapes already in the strong grip of encroachers.

The Surveys Department began the marking of reservation boundaries of major tanks in the district commencing from Nuwara Wewa reservoir situated in the heart of Anuradhapura city (36,050 acre) having been inaugurated by Deputy Irrigation and Land Minister Dr. Susil Ranasinghe on July 19.
