Sri Lanka, Dec. 31 -- A Presidential Commission has been established to investigate alleged corruption and irregularities within the Colombo Municipal Council.
The Commission will be chaired by former High Court Judge Piyasena Ranasinghe, with Accountant E. R. M. S. H. Ekanayake and former Senior Superintendent of Police D. S. Wickramasinghe as members. The appointments were confirmed through a gazette notification signed by the Secretary to the President.
The Commission's mandate includes probing allegations of corruption, fraud, criminal breach of trust, and criminal misappropriation of property in the Colombo Municipal Council between 2010 and 2025.
