Sri Lanka, Sept. 4 -- President's Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake took part in offering Pirikara to the Maha Sangha during the Pindapatha Charikawa (alms round), which began yesterday morning (03) near the Sambuddhaloka Temple in Fort, as it made its way to the Presidential Secretariat.

The annual Pindapatha Charikawa, organised by the Kandy Buddhist and Welfare Associations, aims to enhance the welfare of students studying in Pirivens and Dhamma Schools (Sunday school) in remote areas across the island.

This year, around one hundred members of the Maha Sangha participated in the procession. Staff from several government and private institutions in Colombo Fort gathered along the roadside to offer Pirikara to the monks.
