Sri Lanka, Nov. 17 -- Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala informed Parliament that the President's expenses have been reduced by 58 percent in the first nine months of 2025 through a proposal to control unnecessary expenses in the Presidential Secretariat.

In 2024, Rs. 40 billion was allocated for former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, while the actual expenditure was Rs. 25 billion, the Minister pointed out. The amount allocated for President Anura Kumara Dissanayake this year is Rs. 9 billion, of which Rs. 5 billion has been allocated for the 'Clean Sri Lanka' programme, the Minister stated.
