India, Dec. 1 -- The operation to rescue those trapped by the Mavil Aru reservoir embankment breach was carried out under the direct supervision of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

As a result of these efforts, 121 lives have so far been saved through aerial operations.

A Bell-412 helicopter, a Mi-17 helicopter, a Jet Ranger (Bell 206) helicopter, and a KA-360ER reconnaissance aircraft of the Sri Lanka Air Force were engaged in rescue and surveillance operations in the Mavilaru area.
