Srilanka, June 2 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake became the first individual to file income tax returns for the 2024-2025 assessment year, marking the official launch of the Inland Revenue Department's newly introduced online tax platform.
The digital system, which went live this morning, will now be the exclusive channel for tax submissions starting this assessment year. President Dissanayake's filing was symbolically accepted as the platform's first entry.
Speaking at the inauguration of National Tax Week at the Presidential Secretariat, the President emphasized the importance of protecting public finances and pledged to reduce spending within the Presidential budget.
