Sri Lanka, Nov. 20 -- A meeting between the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake was held at the Presidential Secretariat, following a request made by the TNA yesterday (19).

Discussions focused on the Provincial Council elections and the need for a new Constitution. President Dissanayake stated that the Government believes longstanding issues faced by the people of the Northern and Eastern Provinces can no longer be addressed through outdated political solutions.

Therefore, it is necessary to move towards a new political framework and the support of everyone is essential in that process, the President emphasised.
