Sri Lanka, Aug. 7 -- It is a special moment that the prestigious gold medal presented by the International Association of Athletic Federation (IAAF) to Prema Pinnawala, the long-serving General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) as well as National Olympic Committee. The medal was presented at recently concluded National Athletics Championships.

This marks the first time a Sri Lankan athletic official has received such an accolade from the IAAF. Prema Pinnawala and his wife Jayani Pinnawala who was the former Secretary to the Sports Minster were the special guests at the recently concluded 103th National Athletic championship at Diyagama. The gold medal presentation was made by the SLA President Major General Palitha Fernando.
