Sri Lanka, Dec. 16 -- The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, through the National Secretariat for Early Childhood Development, has commenced the distribution of a one-time nutrition allowance of Rs. 5,000 to pregnant mothers, starting today(16).

This initiative targets expectant mothers who were registered at maternal clinics on or before November 30, 2025, providing them with essential nutritional support amid the prevailing disaster situation and the forthcoming festive season.

The allowance will be distributed through Divisional Secretariat offices nationwide as part of the government's ongoing efforts to support maternal and child health.
