Sri Lanka, Sept. 30 -- Former State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera, who had been in remand custody for over four and a half months in connection with the Kiribathgoda state property fraud case, was granted bail today (30) by the Gampaha High Court.

High Court Judge Nayana Seneviratne ordered the release of Ranaweera and co-accused Sarath Kumara Edirisinghe under strict conditions. Both were required to post a cash bail of Rs. 500,000 and five surety bails of Rs. 500,000 each. The Court further ordered that their passports be impounded and directed them to report to the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) every Sunday.
