Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- Former Commander of the Navy, Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, was remanded today (10) by the Polgahawela Magistrate's Court until 24 September, in connection with an ongoing investigation into a wartime disappearance case.

Ulugetenne, who served as head of naval intelligence under then-Commander Vice Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda at the time of the alleged disappearance in the Pothuhera Police area, was initially arrested on 28th July .

He served as the Commander of the Navy from July 2020 to December 2022 and was appointed Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Cuba in February 2024, during President Ranil Wickremesinghe's tenure.
