Sri Lanka, Aug. 24 -- The Joint Postal Trade Union Front has decided to call off its continuous strike, which had been ongoing since the 17th, following successful discussions with Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

Co-Convenor Chinthaka Bandara announced that the strike was ended with immediate effect after the Minister instructed the Postmaster General to resolve 17 of the 19 key demands raised by the union within one month.

However, issues related to fingerprinting and overtime payments remain unresolved. Bandara noted that these matters will be addressed through future discussions within the framework of existing laws.

The strike had entered its seventh consecutive day today before being officially suspended.
