Srilanka, April 7 -- The Election Commission announced that the reserved packets containing postal votes for 114 local government institutions will be handed over to the Department of Posts today (7).

Commission Chairman R. M. L. A. Ratnayake stated that postal ballot papers for the remaining institutions will be distributed after the relevant court proceedings are concluded.

Postmaster General Ruwan Sathkumara confirmed that all arrangements have been finalized to receive and process the postal vote packets for the local government elections.

In preparation for the election process, the Department of Posts has cancelled all leave for postal employees, effective from April 6, until the conclusion of the local government elections.
