Sri Lanka, Feb. 13 -- Postal transport services across the country were expanded yesterday (12) with the introduction of a new fleet of delivery vehicles by the Department of Posts.

The launch ceremony marked the addition of 10 new lorries and 20 crew cabs, purchased at a cost of over Rs. 590 million, to improve the efficiency of postal transport and delivery operations islandwide.

The event also saw the commencement of a pilot project to distribute bicycle carriers, or mail containers, for motorcycles used by postmen, as part of ongoing efforts to modernize postal delivery services.
