Sri Lanka, Dec. 24 -- The Cabinet of Ministers on Monday (22) approved a series of measures to minimise the use of polythene and plastic within the highly sensitive ecosystem of Sri Pada during the annual pilgrimage season.
Cabinet Spokesman and Health and Mass Media Minister Dr.Nalinda Jayatissa said the approval was granted for a proposal submitted by the Environment Minister to enforce restrictions aimed at reducing environmental damage in the area.
He made these remarks while addressing the weekly Cabinet press briefing yesterday (23).
