Sri Lanka, April 24 -- The Police Headquarters has issued a directive instructing all officers to check individuals behaving suspiciously while wearing protective helmets.

In an official statement, police noted that suspects involved in recent crimes-including shootings and murders across the island-were often found to be wearing full-face helmets that concealed their identity.

While wearing a helmet is mandatory for motorcyclists and their passengers for safety reasons, authorities emphasized that wearing helmets while not on a motorcycle may raise suspicion.

Accordingly, officers have been directed to stop and inspect such individuals and their belongings if they are deemed suspicious.
