Srilanka, March 6 -- Senior Superintendent of Police Buddhika Manatunga, the Police Media Spokesperson, appealed to the public for any information regarding former IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon, for whom an arrest warrant has been issued.

The Matara Magistrate's Court recently instructed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to arrest Tennakoon and five other suspects, who are linked to a shooting incident at a hotel in Weligama, Matara, on December 31, 2023.

The incident led to the death of a police officer.

Despite multiple police teams being deployed, there has been no trace of Tennakoon so far.
