Srilanka, Feb. 24 -- Police were forced to open fire on a car in Malabe after the driver ignored orders to stop, leading to the seizure of over 2 kilograms of cannabis.
The incident occurred in the Hokandara area last night, resulting in the arrest of a couple. During a police raid, officers signaled the vehicle to halt for inspection. However, instead of complying, the driver attempted to flee in reverse, prompting an officer to fire at the car's tires.
The vehicle subsequently crashed into a utility pole and came to a stop. Upon inspection, police discovered 1.8 kilograms of cannabis concealed under the driver's seat. Further questioning of the suspects led to an additional kilo of cannabis being recovered from their residence.
