Sri Lanka, Feb. 1 -- Sri Lanka Police urged the public to come forward and provide information to the special tip line 1997 about information on criminals, drug trafficking and other illegal activities.

Police said the initiative aims to strengthen cooperation between law enforcement and the public while ensuring the confidentiality of informants.

This hotline allows citizens to report various offences including drug trafficking, organised crime, child abuse, threats to national security, misuse of state resources, financial fraud, bribery and corruption.
