Sri Lanka, Feb. 3 -- In a significant move toward sustainable environmental management, the Sri Lanka Police officially launched a nationwide tree-planting initiative yesterday at the Police Field Force Headquarters in Thimbirigasyaya.Sri Lanka travel guide

Organized to coincide with the 78th National Independence Day, the program aims to plant 16,000 trees across all police divisions.

During the inaugural phase, saplings were distributed to 126 police stations within the Western Province.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Hon. Ananda Wijepala, Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, and Hon. Dr. Dammika Patabendi, Minister of Environment.
