Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya revealed that Sri Lankan authorities have identified 58 organised criminal gangs across the country, along with around 1,400 associated gang members. These syndicates, often managed by 'godfathers' residing abroad, have been implicated in various crimes, including drug trafficking and extortion.
