Sri Lanka, June 9 -- Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala announced that the Ministry of Public Security has proposed a plan to recruit 10,000 legally retired military personnel under the age of 45 into the Sri Lanka Police.
Speaking at the opening of the Thambuttegama Superintendent of Police office, the Minister said that a cabinet paper seeking approval for the recruitment, on a five-year contract basis, will be submitted today.
He also revealed that authorities have identified approximately 7,880 children at risk of drug addiction, emphasizing the urgent need for strengthening the police force to tackle rising social issues.
