Sri Lanka, Dec. 22 -- Five individuals were arrested yesterday (21) by Palaly Police for participating in an unlawful protest outside Tissa Temple in the Thaisetti Grama Seva Division.
The protest was reportedly related to a land dispute involving the temple. According to the police, the group defied a court order that prohibited roadblocks, banners, illegal tents, demonstrations, or any actions that could disturb the peace or damage temple property.
The suspects were produced before the Mallakam Magistrate's Court and released on bail of Rs. 100,000 each. They are scheduled to reappear in court on 26 January 2026.
