Sri Lanka, Nov. 10 -- A special team of Sri Lankan security personnel has departed for the Maldives to engage in diplomatic discussions aimed at securing the extradition of six suspects recently arrested by Maldivian security forces along with over 300 kilograms of narcotics while operating in Maldivian waters, according to Police Media Spokesman ASP F. U. Wootler.

The special delegation, comprising officers from the Police Narcotics Bureau and the Sri Lanka Navy, left for the Maldives.

The vessel in question was seized by Maldivian authorities following intelligence provided by the Sri Lanka Navy, which indicated that a drug-carrying vessel was operating within the Maldivian maritime zone.
