Sri Lanka, Jan. 31 -- A Fundamental Rights petition filed by Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, while she was serving as a Member of Parliament representing the NPP, challenging the police attack on a peaceful protest held at the Polduwa Junction in 2023, was yesterday fixed for April 3 by the Supreme Court.
The petition, filed by five petitioners including Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and Parliamentarian Nilanthi Kottahachchi, seeks a declaration that the respondents, including the then Acting IGP Deshabandu Thennakoon, violated their Fundamental Rights.
