Sri Lanka, Aug. 4 -- The Buddhist delegation that arrived in Sri Lanka from USA in connection with the 2026 International Vesak Celebration to be held in Texas, USA, met with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya at Temple Trees recently.

Venerable Melpitiye Wimalakitthi Thera informed the Prime Minister that the Texas State Government has officially recognised Vesak Day and has issued an official gazette to that effect.

The delegation also invited Prime Minister Amarasuriya to attend the Vesak celebration to be held in Texas, in 2026.

The Prime Minister stated that the Government will provide the maximum possible support to make the Vesak festival in Texas in 2026 successful.
